Postdoctoral Research Associates in Bioinformatics

[Overview]
In the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Group at the NIBIO, we carry out bioinformatics and computational biology research to assist drug discovery. Particular emphasis is placed on target identification and validation, through analysis of individual biological systems and by developing novel methods (see http://www.mizuguchilab.orgfor more details). Several postdoctoral positions are currently open for the following areas: development of integrated databases; analysis of high-throughput experimental data; development of novel techniques including the prediction of protein interactions with other molecules.

Several positions.

[Qualification requirements]
The successful applicant(s) will have a PhD degree in a subject relevant to the projects outlined above. At least one of the following conditions must be satisfied:
1) experience with professional database development,
2) programming skills in C, Java, python and other languages,
3) expertise in biostatistics,
4) in-depth knowledge of molecular cell biology and ability to analyze microarray and proteomics data in collaboration with experimental groups,
5) experience in bioinformatics research, particularly about protein structure and function.

[Contract Conditions]
Each position is full time and for one year in the first instance, renewable annually upon evaluation. Terms and conditions of appointment will apply, including salary and health insurance, in accordance with NIBIO’s standard procedures for appointing postdoctoral research associates.

1st April 2012, or as soon as possible thereafter.
